History of the School
1977 - The Atlanta Country Day School’s origins date back to 1977 when Riverside Learning Lab, Atlanta’s premier supplemental educational service, was established.
1986 - The Academy High School at Riverside Learning Lab, a college preparatory day academy, became part of its program.
1996 - In July of 1996, the day school, now known as Atlanta Country Day School, expanded and moved to a suburban campus. After relocating to Alpharetta in August 2001, the school returned to the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area in August 2003 and implemented a modified, four day per week schedule designed to maximize instructional time.
Our Vision:
- Atlanta Country Day School provides a place for those students who haven't experienced academic success in a traditional, highly-structured learning environment.
- We view our students as whole persons emotionally, academically, and socially.
- Our goal is for each student to become a self-reliant, happy and successful adult.
Our Mission:
Atlanta Country Day School
provides a college preparatory program for those students with average to extremely above average abilities who require a comfortable, individualized and small group environment in order to achieve success.

Atlanta Country Day offers year round programs such as: Day school grades 7-12 (group or individualized.) We have a rolling admissions policy so we can accept students any time during the school year. One-on-one tutoring seven days a week in all core curriculum subjects for students who attend other schools in the surrounding area. Night school for credit year round for students who want to earn credit during the school year instead of attending summer school. A full summer school program offering all core curriculum subjects in a small group setting. Early graduation for those candidates who qualify and a traveling celebrity program for music groups, athletes and models who cannot attend school on a regular basis while pursuing a career. We are committed to live instruction in all our programs with quality instructors who provide a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
We include in our instructional programs: SAT prep, note taking skills, organizational skills as well as study skills to help students learn to use the textbook as a teaching tool. We stress essay writing skills as well as creative thinking for each student on his level.
Our classes are Monday – Thursday each week and we utilize the block schedule so each subject is taught a 2 hour block of time. Students are prepared and reviewed before each quiz so as to build self esteem and confidence. We do not require uniforms and do most of our homework at the school. Calls are returned promptly and updates on student’s progress are available daily if needed. References are available from parents of former students.
